                Box Tops

The Box Top program gives schools the opportunity to earn cash without fundraising, It couldn't be easier to buy products, clip the emblem and send them in to the school.

I would like to set the goal of $1000 for this school year. Parents who register at the above site will be able to track the school's progress, receive a newsletter and valuable coupons to use on Box Top Products.

Thanks for your help in making the Box Top program a success!

"You can't educate a child who isn't healthy and you can't keep a child healthy who isn't educated" by Dr Joycelyn Elders

April 2018                                                                       We all need a little stress to provide energy and to keep us going in our hectic lives.  It is important to know when you have reached the point of too much stress.  Stress related ailments and complaints add up to 75%-90% of physician visits. Headaches, back aches, heart issues, high blood pressure, diabetes, depression, anxiety can all be caused or made worse by stress. It is important to give yourself some quiet time, walk away from the problem and get a new perspective.  Don't skimp on sleep or nutrition, rest and a healthy diet will help you manage stress.  Do not rely on caffeine; your brain will work better with sleep over caffeine.  The last thing to help with stress is to just do your best and accept that you cannot control everything all the time.

March 2018                                                               March is the beginning of spring (in my head anyway) so it time to shake off the winter and get moving again.  It is estimated that 30 million people in the US struggle with eating disorders every day.  Health should be a family affair; if everyone gets moving and eats healthy meals together, your child won't feel singled out for their weight.  Parents can suggest a walk around the neighborhood or a game any catch, any movement is better than no movement.  The goal is to have a healthier child, one change at a time.

February 2018                                                                  In SD, it is cold outside when students are walking to school, riding the school bus or playing on the playground.  Winter gear, coats, snow pants, hats and gloves are not optional, they are a necessity for student safety.  Please make sure your students are dressed appropriately every day.

January 2018                                                                 The fall Box Tops check came in last week for the amount of approximately $350.  Thanks to all of you that cut and clip Box Tops.  The plan for this money is undecided at this time.  We will wait and make a decision in the spring, based on our spring check so keep clipping and sending your Box Tops to school.

December 2017                                                                 It is the season of travel and family gatherings. I want to wish you an enjoyable winter break with an additional wish that SD winter does not complicate your journeys!  Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

November 2017                                                                  I am one of the last people that wants to accept that winter is on the way but living in SD, we know that winter will have its' day, or should I say months.  Anyway, I found a website that focuses on preparedness, not just for winter but also on other types of emergencies. There is a monthly newsletter with information for adults and additional resources to help educate children.  I would recommend checking out the website, sitting down and making a plan before there is an actual emergency in your home or in our community.  The website address is:  http://bReady.sd.gov

October 2017                                                              Don't forget the deadlines for the Flu Shot Clinic on October 12th.  I will need forms to be turned in no later than October 6th for your student to get their flu shot. I can not take late forms this year/ the Community Health Office.  They need a roster ahead of time so they know how much vaccine they need to bring to Elkton.  Thank you for your assistance!                                                                                      May 2017                                                                  Summer is almost upon us, time for fun in the sun!  It is also the time to schedule your student's physicals and vaccination appointments.  There are very specific rules that we as a school have to follow to meet the state requirements for vaccinations.  My newsletter and the audit tool posted in "parent information" will help you know what your student needs before they come back to school in the fall.
